Why No One Talks About Options Anymore

How to Care for your Eyes

The eyes deserve all the care we can give as they are some of the most vital parts of our body. The most common problems can be prevented with proper eye care. Even busy people leading hectic lives can afford to take a minute or two making sure their eyes are healthy using simple steps. However, not everyone is equipped with the knowledge on how to take care of their eyes, and so many are careless when it comes to proper eye health. But you can start your personal eye care ritual right now, so you can still enjoy healthy vision even at old age.

Protect your eyes from the sun
The sun can damage your vision in a lot of ways, not just by you looking directly at it. The UV rays can cause cataracts, skin cancer, abnormal growth, and other conditions. But you can shield your eyes from harmful rays using sunglasses that can completely block UVA and UVB light. This means that you have to buy a good pair, not the cheap $5 kind. You only have to buy one pair of effective sunglasses that you can wear whenever you’re outside, which will give you the perk of preventing the onset of wrinkles.

Stop rubbing your eyes
Rubbing can expose your eyes to germs and dirt on your hands. This can cause infection, which can cause long-term effects to your vision. A more serious issue may be a damaged cornea that can easily be scratched by rubbing your eyes. If your eyes are itchy, you can instead use cold compress, eye drops. Or if you have allergies or an eye condition, see an eye doctor to treat them.

Drink water
Drinking water has a lot of benefits and that includes keeping your eyes hydrated. Your eyes need tears to keep your vision clear, so it’s important that your body is getting the right amount of water it needs.

Rest your eyes
We spend a good amount of hours in our daily life looking at our phones, laptop, or TV. Prolonged and uninterrupted fixation on screens can cause eye fatigue and can quickly cause other detriments, so resting your eyes for a bit can go a long ways in terms of keeping your vision healthy. There’s what we call the 20-20-20 rule that everyone can follow, which recommends people to look away from the screen every 20 minutes, and then look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Stop eye conditions early
Having regular check-ups with an ophthalmologist doesn’t hurt, which will also help you detect conditions early. Some conditions get worse because people just let them be, but you can nip it in the bud if you get help from your doctor right away.
